Limelight Health aggregates insurance data in push to simplify employee benefit decisions
Even as the push to improve transparency in medical procedures moves closer to mainstream practice, identifying up to date insurance rates across life, medical, dental and vision continues to be cumbersome. In a move to make it easier for employees to make benefit decisions, Limelight Health developed a tool to aggregate insurance data to make it easier for employees to compare benefit options. It launched the service last year and has added an updated version of its product, QuotePad 2.0.
The idea is that instead of taking weeks to gather the data in one interface, Limelight Health can speed up the process. Its customers include benefits brokers, carriers, and private exchanges.
In a phone interview with CEO Jason Andrew, he said that although its service is currently only available in California, the plan this year is to push into five more states in the first quarter such as Colorado, Texas, New Jersey and New York. He added that for ancillary lines of dental, vision, and life insurance, Quote Pad 2.0will be available in 40 states.
Asked if there’s been resistance by insurance carriers to its approach, he said the insurance industry has been supportive and views its service as helping the industry become more customer-centric.
